JS Saddlery is the home and tradition of custom saddle maker and leather craftsman, James Sturgeon. We are located at 7931 Highway 180 West, Cliff, NM. It's a short, beautiful drive of 30 miles from Silver City, NM and 35 Miles from Glenwood, NM. Our shop hours are Monday-Saturday, 8:30a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and closed on Sunday. Custom orders are our speciality!

We can offer these suggestions to you; however, as the customer we are also open to your ideas for personalization of your finished product. The combinations are endless. Most items (other than saddles) are usually shipped within 2 weeks.

I don't get a chance very often to make a custom saddle in advance to sell on my show room floor-most custom saddles are based on pre-orders. Specifications: Tree: Bowden saddle tree co bull hide covered 16 inch set , 5 inch cantel with 14 1/2 swells , a wood post dally horn with 3 inch cap 3 inches tall 6 1/2 gullet by 8 inch tall simi 1/4 horse az bars . Saddle: hand made using Weaver leather with a old style twist , hand stamped basket weave around haft of the saddle, slick seat, old style fenders, 3 inch brass rigging, Dees placed at 7/8ths on the front and inline cantle for the back Dees , long latigo strings with brass conches, 3 1/2 tread in the basket stamped roper stirrups. The second saddle of 2012 is a old style ranch saddle with a rough out seat, fenders with basket stamping, and a nice border stamp . Specifications: 16 inch seat, 4 ½ tall cantle with 1 ½ dish 3 inch wood post horn tree is a modified association bull hide covered by Bowden saddle tree co. The saddle has old style fenders that are rough out with border stamp plate rigging set in 7/8 position and nylon reinforced 6 ½ gullet by 8 inch tall simi quarter horse with AZ bars swell is 13/12 wide covered and stamped
